About Us
Discover our story, our mission, and the passionate team behind our work. Together, we’re breaking barriers and building a future where every mother feels heard, valued, and supported
Our Story
This initiative originated through the outreach and advocacy work of Maternity Voices Partnership (MNVP) Chairs, whose engagement with local communities highlighted persistent challenges faced by Black, Asian, and Ethnic Minority service users—particularly those experiencing language barriers throughout their maternity and birthing journeys. These lived experiences underscored significant gaps in communication, understanding, and continuity of care.
The vision gained strong support from BHRUT Maternity, resulting in funding for a pilot project designed to address these inequalities through culturally sensitive, community-led support. By December 2024, the pilot demonstrated clear impact and was successfully embedded as a fully integrated service within maternity provision.
Today, Cradling Culture C.I.C. delivers dedicated, culturally competent support services focused on improving experiences, strengthening communication, and achieving healthier outcomes for service users and their families. In addition, Cradling Culture C.I.C. works in partnership with Live Well Redbridge to raise awareness around long-term conditions (LTCs), support prevention efforts, and promote better health outcomes across diverse communities through education, engagement, and early intervention.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to bridge language and cultural barriers for service users from Black, Asian, and ethnic minority backgrounds. We aim to enhance maternity, postnatal, and perinatal mental health by providing compassionate, personalised care and continuous support throughout the birthing journey and beyond. Through advocacy, cultural understanding, and competent care, we ensure every voice is heard and every experience respected. We are committed to expanding this service into other public healthcare pathways in the near future.
